The body never measures; it perceives only difference. Temperature comes and goes, leaving its trace on the skin without ever resolving into a number — to the body, cold and warmth are always the distance between this moment and the one before. In this gap between perception and measurement, the countless minute changes of everyday life take place, and quietly slip away.

During a winter residency in Tokyo in 2011, as temperatures shifted between day and night, the aluminum window frames of the studio expanded and contracted with a faint, persistent creaking. Metal is no more sensitive than skin; it simply answers in another way — turning the passage of temperature into sound, bearing witness to a change the body cannot articulate. That accidental listening became the starting point of the series.

The work employs custom-built heating devices whose internal structures expand, contract, and press against one another through slow shifts in temperature, forming a rhythm like breathing. Outwardly the apparatus appears nearly still; within, it gives off a continuous stream of delicate, active sound — an intensity unfolding at the smallest of scales. Listening thus becomes a form of calibration: hearing tuned to the threshold of perception, attending to the activity of matter that has always been present, yet never heard.

身體從不測量，它只感知差異。溫度的來去在皮膚上留下痕跡，卻不曾化為數值——冷與暖之於身體，永遠是此刻相對於上一刻的落差。日常裡無數細微的變化，正是在這道感知與度量之間的縫隙裡發生，又悄然流逝。

2011年冬季駐村東京期間，工作室的鋁製窗框在晝夜溫差之間，因熱脹冷縮發出細微聲響。金屬並不比皮膚敏銳，只是以另一種方式作答——它把溫度的行經化為聲音，替一場身體無從言明的變化留下證詞。這次偶然的聆聽，成為整個系列的起點。

作品以特製的加熱裝置，使內部結構在緩慢的溫度變化中相互伸縮、推移，形成如呼吸般的韻律。外觀近乎靜止，內裡卻持續發出細膩而活躍的聲響——一種發生於微小尺度的劇烈。聆聽於是成為一種調校：將聽覺推至感知的臨界，去聽那些始終在場、卻未曾被聽見的物質活動。
